Jeff Bloom has enjoyed a love affair with hot cars since before he could walk! In 1969 aged only 3 he started devouring popular Australian motoring mags including Wheels, Motor Manual and Sports Car World. In 1972 he was often transported to and from primary school in his Aunty Hazel’s brand new Calypso Green XA Falcon GT, daydreamed during class in Grade 5 drawing Pontiac Firebird TransAms, and was regularly whisked off to the Surfers Paradise raceway to cheer on his mechanic brother Greg and his FJ Holden drag car “The General’s Revenge”, and later Greg’s V8 XY Falcon GS and Greg’s wife’s rather potent Escort Twin Cam.
While other kids were tricking out their BMX bikes in the early 80s, Jeff was scraping together $600 to buy his first car at age 15½, a 1970 LC Torana GTR, the first of a very long line of Aussie muscle cars. Aged 16 and hooked on ‘Street Machine’ magazine, he stumbled onto an article showcasing an American collector’s extensive collection of over 50 US muscle cars, hidden in a downtown LA warehouse. It was love at first sight, an indelible image stored away for future reference.
Fast forward to 1996, Jeff made 2 significant decisions that would see him ultimately create the country’s (indeed the world’s) largest Australian muscle car collection, currently comprising 102 vehicles from 1963 to 2008. He started a successful marketing and sales consulting and coaching business “JRBAssociates” , and he started buying old Aussie muscle cars as and when they became available... and (much to everyone’s surprise, including his own) kept going and going. The resultant Aussie Muscle Car Museum opened its doors in March 2005.
Frustrated with the lack of quality restoration and replacement parts for his vehicles, in late 2009 Jeff joined forces with one of this country’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of new old replacement parts and panels and commenced Aussie Muscle Car Traders in January 2010. Soon after, services and an exclusive collectable vehicle brokerage were added to the business .
